This wool yarn is made from 100% New Zealand wool and developed for weaving, rug making, tufting, and structural textile work. With a fibre diameter of 21 microns, the wool itself is soft and resilient, while the yarn construction is optimised for strength, durability, and surface coverage rather than garment drape.
The yarn has a length of approximately 200 meters per 100 grams, which places it in the DK to light worsted range by meterage. However, this yarn is woolen spun and core spun, giving it very different behaviour from standard knitting yarns. It is loftier, denser, and more resistant to abrasion, making it particularly suitable for tapestry weaving, tufting guns and rug applications.
Because the yarn is designed to withstand mechanical stress, it produces a firm and stable structure when worked. This makes it ideal for creating dense pile in tufted rugs, as well as for rug weaving, tapestry weaving, and crochet projects intended for home decor and structural use.
The yarn is available in 67 colours.

Usage guidance
Although the meterage is comparable to DK yarn, this yarn is not a standard knitting yarn. Its construction prioritises strength and abrasion resistance rather than flexibility and drape. It is therefore not recommended for garments or accessories worn on the body.
Experienced makers may use this yarn for crochet or knitting projects intended for structural or decorative home use, such as rugs, baskets, cushions, or wall pieces.
Why choose this yarn
New Zealand wool is valued for its elasticity, durability, and ability to recover after compression. Combined with a tufting-specific spinning method, this yarn delivers reliable performance for rug makers and textile artists who need consistent results, colour availability, and material integrity.
